The short version
Your personal prayers and journal are private by default. If you use Sign in with Apple, Answered enables secure cloud sync through Firebase so your app and website can share the same prayer journal. Private prayers are stored under your Firebase user ID and are not public.
Private journal data
- Without sign-in, prayers, updates, reminders, and answer reflections are saved locally on your device.
- With Sign in with Apple, prayer data uses Firebase cloud sync so the app and website can access the same private journal.
- Private prayer records are protected by Firestore rules so only your signed-in user ID can read or write them.
- Using Settings → Delete all prayers removes the prayer records controlled by your account in the app.
Community testimonies
If you choose to share a testimony or reply, that content is stored in our cloud database (Google Firebase) so others in the community can read it.
- You may post with a display name or as Anonymous.
- Your Firebase user ID is used so you can manage and delete your own posts. It is not shown publicly.
- You can delete your own testimonies and replies at any time from within the app.
Notifications
Daily verse and prayer-time notifications are scheduled locally on your device. Enabling them is optional and they can be turned off anytime.
What we do not collect
- No passwords. Apple handles the sign-in process.
- No location, contacts, photos, or device identifiers for advertising.
- No selling of data — ever.
Children
Answered is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The community feed is moderated to keep shared content respectful.
