Why tracking answered prayers changes everything

Throughout Scripture, God's people build altars, stack stones, and keep feasts — all for one reason: so they won't forget. Memory is fragile, and discouragement is loud. When we forget how God has shown up before, today's worry feels bigger than it is.

The problem with forgetting

Most of us pray far more than we realize. But because those prayers live in scattered moments — a whispered request in the car, a sleepless 3 a.m. — they evaporate. And when the answer comes weeks later, we rarely connect the dots.

What changes when you track

When you write a prayer down and return to it, three things happen:

1. You pray with more focus. Naming a request clarifies it.
2. You notice the answers. You can't celebrate what you don't remember asking for.
3. You build evidence. A growing list of answered prayers is quiet, personal proof that you are heard.

A simple practice

Try this for one month: every time you catch yourself worrying, write it as a prayer instead. Then revisit your list weekly. You'll be surprised how often you get to move something into the Answered column — and how steadying that is.
